Philip Morris Incorporated first entered the Indonesian market in 1984, through a license agreement with a local company to manufacture PMI’s brands. PT Philip Morris Indonesia, an affiliate of Philip Morris International (PMI) was then established in 1998. In 2005, PMI became the majority shareholder (97.95%) of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk, Indonesia’s third largest tobacco company, according to 2004 market share results.

There are three main product that currently Phillip Morris produces i.e. Marlboro, George & Benson and West.
